One of the primary responsibilities of the board of trustees and senior administrators of a school is to provide for the enabling infrastructure; the buildings, skilled faculty, and other requisites of a learning environment. As we move forward boards and senior administrators will be expected to ascertain the prudence of planned spending on types of infrastructures that will not be as easily modeled by traditional financial planning tools. There is also the need to have an "antennas up" stance regarding the fluid ecology of education. We are witnessing an industry-wide re-imagining of the basic methods, modalities, and delivery of learning.
I hope that this blog can serve as one avenue of education for those board members and administrators interested in extending their expertise in the possibly less familiar domains such as web platforms, twitter feeds, simulations, data centers, digital pilot programs, etc. We'll offer information sources in the forms of articles, thought leaders, videos, etc., as well as answers to your questions. Hopefully, this will become a vibrant community of those charged with the stewardship of these vital institutions.
